Historic Hand-carved Linden Wood Figures from Val Gardena Itay
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels selected La Porte Vintage to restore its badly damaged hand-carved wooden nativity statues.
These precious and historically significant figures were gifted to the cathedral in 2013 from the estate of Bob Hope and Dolores Hope.
Originally given by Bob Hope to his wife, Dolores, in the 1950s, the nativity figures were displayed annually at the Hope family home in Encino, California, quietly becoming a cherished tradition for those who visited during the Advent and Christmas seasons.
Hand-carved in the Val Gardena region of Italy, the statues represent a long tradition of sacred Alpine woodcarving. La Porte Vintage is honored to participate in the preservation and restoration of these remarkable works.
